Health and Safety Policy
Andy McCredie Productions Limited (AMP) takes every reasonable step to keep everyone on its productions safe, and complies with the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974. This policy applies to everyone working with AMP, including freelancers and visitors.
Responsibilities
AMP. Andy McCredie, as Managing Director, is responsible for this policy and for making sure it is followed.
Everyone engaged. You have a legal duty to take reasonable care of your own health and safety and that of anyone affected by what you do or fail to do. Please follow venue rules and reasonable instructions, and speak up if something looks unsafe.
Venues. Venues remain responsible for their own premises, fire procedures and equipment. We follow their procedures and share them with the team.
Venue risk assessments
We carry out a suitable and sufficient risk assessment for each rehearsal and presentation space, case by case, before work starts there. We share the findings with the creative team before the first rehearsal day at that venue. We review the assessment if the space, schedule or activity changes.
Safe and accessible working
We design rehearsal days with proper breaks: a one-hour meal break, 15-minute rest breaks and at least 11 hours free of calls overnight, in line with the Working Time Regulations 1998 and your agreement.
We gather access requirements confidentially before work begins and make reasonable adjustments (see our Freelancer-Friendly Policy).
We do not ask anyone to take on sole responsibility for health and safety, fire marshalling, first aid or safeguarding decisions unless they have agreed in writing and are suitably trained. Access support workers are not first aiders or clinicians.
Where work involves physical activity, contact, props, rigging or special effects, we plan and brief it in advance and agree it with the people involved.
Your right to decline
You may decline any activity you reasonably consider unsafe, without that being a breach of your agreement and without any effect on your payment, credit or future work. Tell Andy as soon as you can so the risk can be looked at.
Accidents, incidents and near misses
Tell Andy McCredie as soon as possible, in person or by emailing productions@andymccredie.com, about any accident, injury, near miss or unsafe condition. We record it, take action to prevent it happening again, and report it to the venue and where the law requires.
Emergencies
In an emergency, call 999. For urgent health advice that is not an emergency, call NHS 111. At each venue we make sure the team knows where the exits, assembly point, first aid kit and nearest first aider are. If anyone appears to be in crisis, stay calm, follow their wishes and any plan they have shared where it is safe to do so, and get help.
Insurance
AMP maintains employers’ and public liability insurance covering the rehearsal and presentation venues, and provides evidence on request.
Wellbeing
We ask everyone to take their breaks, tell us what they need, and tell us if workload, schedule or the environment is affecting them. Concerns about bullying, harassment or discrimination are covered by our Zero Tolerance, Anti-Racism and Inclusion Policy.
Last reviewed 13 October 2026. We review this policy at least once a year, and after any serious incident.
